One of the key objectives when I set up WePublish was to create a better environment for those working (or ‘playing’) in progressive, innovative or independent publishing in Leeds and the surrounding cities.
When John Baron (formerly Guardian Local, now South Leeds Life and The City Talking) and I got together to talk about how we could provide more for those bloggers, journos, writers and publishing in the city – one obvious answer was a regular meetup where we could get together and, in an open, friendly and sharing space, discuss the key topics that are impacting us – as well as sharing the news on what’s going on – both locally and further afield.
It was from this that WePublish Leeds was born; a simple premise – once a month we get together and share ideas and experiences.
Following a well-attended initial meeting at Costa on Briggate, Leeds we agreed that this was of benefit to those attending and so we sourced a more permanent home – and Dock Street Market invited us in with welcoming arms.
So, if you want to see what drives the local blogging and publishing scene – whether to help you deliver your own publication or to get involved with another – then please sign up and come along, we meet on the second Tuesday of every month.
Hope to see you there!
